We are Champions!

There is nothing nicer than watching foals graze and grow by the side of their mare. Aunt Scarlett’s foals have blossomed in leaps and bounds over the spring and summer months here at the farm. The two colts, Marcus and Maverick are strong spunky fellas that enjoy romping around together, whereas Mona, the filly is dainty and ever so sweet.

One feature that is remarkably different about this year’s group of foals, in comparison to the thoroughbred foals of days gone by, is the way they run across the field. All of the foals have a lovely cantor that is typical of the Warmblood breed of horses; they move gracefully.

Near the end of this summer, in August, the foals went to the Blazing Colours Farm for official sales inspection and grading. This is the home of the sire, Mirabeau, of all three foals. The results of an inspection of this nature is important, because the foals are judged based on standardize strict criteria and this helps to assess their value for potential development and future sales.

Aunt Scarlett and Shelley, who oversee all the horses and their foals, were delighted with the inspection results.

Marcus, the colt of the mare named Best of Aly, was awarded a High Point GOLD Premium – 2014 Site Champion Colt. It just doesn’t get much better than that!

In addition to receiving these excellent foal results, another Thoroughbred mare, named Clever Darley, was presented for assessment and grading to be approved for Warmblood breeding and foaling. Again excellent results were achieved, and we are sure she will produce a handsome Warmblood foal.

It will be exciting to see how the foals look once they lose their baby fur completely, but in the meantime grazing and growing is the order of the day.
